There comes the point when you must choose an IT services team for your business. So, should you outsource to an MSP or hire in-house IT personnel? Which is better for your business? Learn about both options and decide which is best suited for you.

In-House IT

Having an in-house IT support team allows businesses to have on-site access to help when needed, which feels comfortable for many companies. Some people also consider these IT teams more knowledgeable about your business than outsourced support; however, this isn’t always true. You have to pay your in-house team even if their services aren’t required. Thus, you will be spending a lot of money to keep them on-site and accessible. Furthermore, in-house IT personnel may not solve all the technical issues that arise, and you could have to outsource anyway. Moreover, you are dependent on their availability, and this usually only extends to business hours. So, if an emergency arises after hours, your team may not be available to help until they start their shifts.

Managed Service Provider (MSP)

MSPs provide expert support for a fraction of the cost of having an in-house team. You only pay for the help you need when you need it. Thus, you save a lot of money in comparison to in-house IT. Also, MSPs tend to have a broader skillset and are continually expanding their knowledge. As they specialize in IT services, they stay up-to-date with the latest IT news and advancements. Furthermore, many MSPs have much greater availability than in-house IT and can provide services after hours. Finally, many MSPs offer free consultations to give you an idea of what you may need and also establish a budget that works for you.

MSP: The Better Choice

The lower cost, more outstanding expertise provided, and better availability of managed service providers make them a better choice for most businesses. An external team can solve most businesses’ issues, so it doesn’t make sense for many companies to have their own in-house IT. When it comes to in-house IT or MSP, MSP is the clear winner.

Of course, companies need to research finding the right MSP to partner with. The MSP needs to align with your organization’s goals and understand the direction of the company. Also, the MSP needs to be able to meet your business’s technology needs.
